This original oil stick painting was created 'freehand'; the oil sticks were applied directly with hands/fingers. No brushes nor tools/instruments are used to apply the medium. This piece is meant to be bold, vibrant, expressive - not precise nor realistic.
SALMON RUN is inspired by the salmon running/spawning in the Platte River, Shalda Creek, Lake Michigan. This painting is about bold colors, shape, space, and lines. It is expressive and abstract perspective. I always hope to achieve distortion in body, shape and size, and unique size in eyes for more character.
