SHOREBREAK is a very large bold painting that was under painted with acrylics and then with large oil sticks to pop the color. The oil stick paintings are all created 'freehand'; the oil sticks were applied directly with hands/fingers. No brushes nor tools/instruments are used to apply the medium. They are meant to be vibrant, expressive images- not precise nor realistic. This style helps keep the waves, water, sand, rocks more semi abstract and distorted, and about more about bold shapes, color, space. These wave and water images represent shape and color and the energy of water, waves, sand..This is original 'raw art' that borderlines on folk art. Also inspired by Milton Avery.
SHOREBREAK is full of vibrant blue and green color, constantly changing with the light and clouds in the sky; full of energetic big waves, breaking as far back out toward horizon, into the big swell; and has big shore break rolling in and slamming hard over black rocks on shoreline. Perspectively, it was intended for one to enjoy the sense of walking into these conditions and elements with gear to play (windsurf, kite, sail, swim...) or can just enjoy observing the beauty up closely and myopically.
Enjoy storms and the color that it brings to the water both to the lakes, seas, oceans. SHOREBREAK was inspired by Lake Michigan storms, its shore break and waves in the Leelanau Peninsula, with one looking out to the islands over the huge swell toward Wisconsin.

Custom pine, white , pickle-stained, float frame is currently being made by Mark Langdon. This should give one the sense of 'beach home'.
